Property Underwriting Manager, Berkshire. Up to £80,000 plus excellent benefits and discretionary bonuses
An amazing opportunity for an experienced Property Underwriting Manager to join one of the fastest growing insurers in the UK.
Within this role you will play a key role in supporting the development of the financial plans and strategies for the Commercial Property Portfolio.
You will analyse and review the portfolio, using a range of metrics to spot trends, issues and opportunities.
You will also provide overall underwriting guidance and technical input to underwriting teams.
Working alongside other underwriting and operations teams you will ensure that the appropriate underwriting governance and control frameworks are in place through the regular review of underwriting guidelines, authorities, audit regime and pricing framework.
Setting the strategy and business plan for the Property exposures and undertaking regular monitoring/analysis of the results and reporting on them.
Researching, recommending and agreeing pricing, underwriting criteria and product changes to ensure that products remain market comparable and continue to deliver profitable growth in line with financial plans.
Ensuring the underwriting rates and rules are accurately applied both internally and externally.
Oversee and manage compilation of risks/exposures for our reinsurance programme to ensure that we operate within our prescribed limits and aggregates.
Lead reinsurance discussions and negotiations with our reinsurers and reinsurance brokers.
Oversee and manage the development and maintenance of technical underwriting standards, controls, procedures and authority limits.
Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with both external and internal stakeholders including Broker partners, Actuarial, Analytics, Claims and Finance.
Act as the senior point of technical referral on Property for underwriting colleagues.
Experience, knowledge and skills required;
You must be an accomplished Property Underwriting Manager with strong technical underwriting and/or portfolio management experience.
The ability to assess technical risk, understand financial modelling techniques / metrics and apply that
knowledge to make commercially astute decisions within authority levels.
Strong awareness of the market and legal/industry developments and the ability to influence necessary change within the company.
Strong level of financial awareness and understanding of technical elements of insurance portfolios.
Strong interpersonal, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate persuasively and in a manner appropriate to the audience.
Strong problem solving and negotiation skills, capable of prioritising work to meet specified deadlines
with a focus on delivering results.
Proactive, innovative and able to take the initiative.
